A terror attack in Barcelona has left 13 people dead and 32 injured, 10 seriously, after a van ploughed into pedestrians on the famous Las Ramblas street.
The vehicle mounted the pavement along the famous promenade – sparking a manhunt for the driver.
Local media reported that the driver of the white van fled on foot after ramming into dozens of people along the Las Ramblas at around 5pm today.
Locals officials have requested that metro and train stations shut while rescuers deal with the emergency, and they urged people to stay away from the centre of the city.
The van used in the attack was rented by Driss Oukabir, who is believed to have been involved in the attack, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais.
Terrified witnesses flee through the streets after the vehicle slammed into people on Las Ramblas, which is highly popular with tourists.
Armed police were also seen searching buildings in the city centre.
Two armed men have reportedly stormed a restaurant in Barcelona just minutes after the van ploughed into pedestrians in the Spanish city.
At least two people were apparently killed and over 20 were injured after the huge vehicle mowed down people along a famous promenade.
The two weapon-wielding males entered the restaurant shortly after the suspected terror attack, according to local media.
There are unverified reports that a hostage situation is underway.

Motionless bodies are seen lying on the floor of the city’s historic Placa de Catalunya and debris from nearby stalls is scattered across the floor.
In the distressing footage filmed by a witness, several people can be seen lying motionless with blood splattered across the ground.
Thirteen people are feared dead and 32 more injured are believed to have been injured in the attack, which has been followed by an armed stand-off at a restaurant.
However, the Catalan interior ministry has confirmed only one death.
Local media is now reporting a Turkish restaurant on Carrer Tallers, near to the Boqueria food market, is at the centre of a hostage situation.
Witnesses on the ground said it is happening in Luna Istanbul Restaurant.
Armed police have moved in to the city centre as they hunt for the driver – or drivers.
A shop worker has claimed there are people being held in the restaurant and that shoppers are being told to stay where they are, inside stores.
A police Twitter statement said: “If you are if you are in the area of Plaça Catalunya in Barcelona stay where you are until the police says that you can get (out).”
