MI5 is working with French security services to probe possible links between the fatal attack in Paris and the Westminster Bridge terror horror that claimed the lives of five people.
Karim Cheurfi unleashed horrific scenes when he opened fire on the Champs-Elysees last week, killing a police officer and injuring two others – with authorities now investigating if he had connections to any UK jihadis.
The Daily Star reported that police are now investigating if there are links in “any way” between the Paris terrorist and fanatic Khalid Masood, who ploughed through crowds on Westminster Bridge in March.
A security source said: “Part of the British investigation is looking into the personal history of Cheurfi and Masood to see if they were linked in any way.
“They also want to know whether the murder of two policemen was a coincidence or part of some wider plot.”
MI5 is now reportedly working closely with the French General Directorate for Internal Security on the possible links between the two attacks.
The search for links comes after it was revealed the ISIS gunman involved in the Paris attacks had been previously jailed for trying to kill two policemen and this year was found with knives and masks he claimed was for a carnival…
